Biography Elizabeth
Wallace is the author of four books: Extraordinary
Places Close to London that describes 30 lesser-known villages plus 17 of
their neighbors all within 50 miles of London; Colorado Springs, Colorado a history of that town using vintage
photographs, many of which have never before been published; Kansas City in Vintage Postcards
contains the images or more than 200 postcards from a private collection and Douglas County Colorado: A Photographic
Journey.
Elizabeth was born in England
and educated at the Marley School for Girls, and is a member of the Society of
Women Writers and Journalists in London.
In 1978, she emigrated to America
and settled in Kansas City
with her husband and three young sons. She began her writing career in 1994
after submitting an idea for a show to Walt Bodine a legendary personality on
KCUR, National Public Radio’s affiliate in Kansas City. The show, The Origins of
Everyday Sayings, became a monthly feature and lasted for almost two years.
It was a live show and open to listeners' questions. Elizabeth and two
professors from UMKC made up the panel, which became known as the Word
Mavens.
Elizabeth is also a member of Colorado Center
for the Book and is founder member of the Castle Rock Writers Group. She writes
a bi weekly newspaper column, written for radio and magazines and gives
presentations and book signings.
Elizabeth has appeared several times on KKTV11 News in Colorado Springs, as well as KCUR, National Public
Radio’s affiliate in Kansas City.
She is currently working on her first novel set in Medieval England.
